    Amazing, breath taker
Had to watch this multiple times and as a fellow artist superb work. I am ecstatic for the detail. One of my most favorite artists and with such a solid story line which really is memorizing. I would like to know what they used for the animation for the anime. I will be looking for future pieces by this artist.

Must watch this if you enjoy true love stories. Gives hope to the world if love as ...

    Somewhat disjointed.
When the ending montage started in, I was a little confused. All I could think was, that's it it?! But as I watched the montage, I realized that the song and the montage told the rest of the story & filled in the gaps. Takaki & Akari grew apart with time but while Akari moved on with her life, Takaki never did. It's really sad watching it and the realization that Takaki comes to that leds to ...

  • A deep, motivating story of waiting for true love.
    ***Spoiler*** Watch Before Reading...

Okay, so first episode, you have the 2 main protagonists. They're childhood friends but seemingly, because of the constant change of their parents' jobs, they move further and further away. They write to each other every now and then to stay connected. One winter, they choose to meet up and reminiscence about their past and to catch up on their current ...

  • Wow. This is really good so far...wait, it's over!?!
Seriously, this can't possibly be the whole story. At most this could only half of it. I was even surprised to the point of being compelled to look up this story after finishing it. Sadly, it is indeed only 63 minutes long. It's beautifully told on several different levels but ends completely out of nowhere. I don't need complete closure in my movies or series' to enjoy them but to cover so many ...

  • Brought me to tears, and I don't react like that often
I'll start off by saying that this is an absolute masterpiece. Beautiful imagery, an unforgettable story, and the music couldn't have been any better.

The way this is presented, it gives you some level of hope for the protagonist up to the very last moment, then crushes your very heart and soul into dust. I was in tears.

I normally don't write reviews, but this is a piece of art I will ...

  • Disappointed in the ending.
I'm not a big tragedy fan, so it wasn't my cup of tea. I don't like it when people make stupid choices and are the victims of everything in life. When they can obviously do something different to change the way things are going and they choose to do nothing. Instead they just keep on existing in the turmoil around them.

  • A very well done OVA
A great look at the realities of life. Excellent animation with solid writing. I'm not going to gush over the emotion or the plot of this story. Most of the thoughtful reviews go into that. The slice of life lessons taught here really standout. What are they? Life sucks, and for most, dreams do not come true.

  • Great, but never watching again
beautiful animation and nice writing combine to hit you in the feels like a freight train. If you're not depressed at the end of it, you might not have a soul.
My personal policy is that if tears are shed, its never watched again. This makes the cut.

  • Storytelling At It's Finest
In a world of anime that has lots of outlandish adventure and fantasy (one of the reasons I absolutely love anime), to see something like this is an excellent breath of fresh air. This is one of the occasional animated features that shows that this art form is an excellent medium of story telling.

It's beautiful, and its realistic. It's a heartbreaking story we know very well. We've all been ...

  • No happy ending to this slice of life / romance
Sometimes it is nice to watch a story where the guy doesn't really get the girl.

Unfortunately the story skipped around a bit, it wasn't clear who all the characters were, the narration seemed a bit much at times, and we watched the dub which had somewhat lackluster voice actors with a lot of deadpan delivery.

However, the art, especially the backgrounds, was gorgeous. The music was also ...
