    An Exceptional Masterpiece
"The speed cherry blossom petals fall is five centimeters per second."

    -Akari Shinohara

5 Centimeters per Second is the heartbreaking story between the couple, Takaki and Akari. Told in the fashion of three separate acts, we explore the themes of letting go of the past and growing up. What makes the movie stand out is that it perfectly executes the interactions between the characters ...

    Beautiful Artwork + Love Stories
This anime exceeded my expectations. I expected a cheesy romance show with weird characters, but in return, I got to see one of the best art works. This anime has showed me that it is okay to be in love.
Story 1- This story made me cry. It is about a boy meeting an old friend of his. He gets on a train to go meet his friend (who he kept in touch with by sending letters to her) but his train gets ...

  • One of the most Praiseworthy Animes I've Seen to Date
5 Centimeters per Second is perhaps one of the best examples of romance in an anime movie to date.

The story is split into three parts, and each are told in an elegant and deep fashion, without ever seeming contrived or rushed. Each of these stories contains extremely relatable characters, more so than many other animes that I've seen. The characters truly feel like real people, to the point ...

Ode to Romance that could have been
The animation is beautifully done, as many have said. I think the story is highly personal and subtle. Some people are going to relate to it more than others and that will greatly effect how they will rate it. I guess I would be most like Akari and not looking to the past so I didn't enjoy this story as much as most of the viewers.

    Absolutely worth watching
If this film is any indication, I should spend the next several days watching everything this man as directed. Emotionally satisfying, beautifully animated, and serene without being slow, this movie should be viewed by anyone who wants to see what can be done with the medium.

    Makoto Shinkai Is Amazing!
The animation aside, which is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking, the stories highlighted in 5 Centimeters Per Second are all very touching and very sad. A story about a young love that just couldn't be. Whether it was unsure feelings, long distance, or simply growing and forgetting the two central characters were destined no to be together.

Normally this is the type of story that I would ...

Great animation assists a sad, but good, story
This anime was one of those whose name I've heard of or come across every now and then, but I never really knew what it was about or really much anything about it. After finishing an episode of Kamigami no Asobi, I saw this in the "Other Romance Shows You May Like" section, and decided, what the heck, I'll give it a shot.

The 60-minute movie centers around a guy, Takaki Tono, and two girls, ...

    Beautiful anime but unreal stories
This is a simple life story in three chapters, about 21 minutes each. The first is two school friends who are separated, yet the boy travels by train many hours to meet the girl again. In the second chapter, the same boy at another school has a surfer girl with a crush on him but he never gave her special attention, and she cries herself to sleep over him. The last chapter has the same first two, ...

  • Um......What!?......
This was very nice. It's something to watch on a rainy day when you have nothing to do. The background was beautiful with cool imagery. It was kind of sad. Not a tear shed but still left an empty feeling inside. I only gave it 5 stars due to the fact it had some recognizable english voice actors from anime I love dearly. Like Blue Exorcist and Haibane Renmei, etc. I felt that it had no real ...

    ....What? Sadly Mistaken
I usually enjoy romantic/dramatic anime and the like, and someone recommended me this one. I went into it with very high expectations, but I really don't see the lure of this. I had no attachment to the characters (I am writing this 30 seconds after finishing it and I already can't remember the names of anyone), the middle part just made me want to tear my hair out of sheer annoyance, and it seems ...
