This story tries so hard to be cool, but it's not
This is the story of a chain-smoking bureaucrat, whose division in the ACCA, the administrative controller of the provinces is being dissolved. He picks up some minor corruption in one of his offices and his division is given a reprieve. Really riveting plot, eh? You got it, it's boring. And, I don't know how anyone could like the main character. He's obsessive, needle-nosed dilatant, that ...

    Refreshingly different
    Episode 1 Review
In this world of oversaturated highschool battle shonens/romcoms, its nice to have something different. All the characters are adults in jobs and there has been no fanservice so far. Its from madhouse too so it looks and sounds great. The OP is also pretty catchy. Overall I'm excited to see where this goes.

    Initial Thoughts - Recommended
I have to say that so far I'm intrigued.

The show actually makes bureaucratic duties and politics pretty interesting. The main character is quiet and reserved, but he's not afraid to talk when he needs to and is pretty smart if you pay attention. If you are a fan of drama and political-ish shows and anime then you should give this show a shot. It may feel a little slow at first but that's ...

    An acquired taste...
This show is definitely different compared to all the cutesy-girl anime coming out this season. Looking from the first episode it has a fluid and unique style to it, while the story seems a bit undeveloped from the first episode I can tell that they have some good stuff planned in the coming episodes.

Definitely worth a watch if you're tired of all the harem-shonen-cutesy-slice of life anime ...

Looking forward to the next episode
Best of the winter season that I have watched so far. Different than the usual fare on offer. There seems to be one anime like this each season, Tricker was last season's. That in itself not a bad thing. It's Madhouse, which is a good thing.

Lot's of setup in the first episode for the rest of the series. Kudos and an extra star for casting Atsuko Tanaka the REAL THING and not a young, ...

The First Episode is Amazing and You Should Watch it.
I plan on eventually uploading a video to my YouTube channel (BasementOtaku) but here is the script I will be working with. I loved this first episode and wanted to share my thoughts.

[Warning I am going to talk about the entire first episode so if you haven’t seen it I recommend you do so, it is fabulous, this is more of a critique than a recommendation. Also, please no spoilers in the ...

    ACCA: 13-Meh inspection department
    Fake Spoiler alert:

Seriously though, this anime feels like it's really trying to capitalize on being different and having a more "adult" feel to it. If that's what you're looking for, give this one a watch I guess. As much as I love giving bonus points to any anime that isn't set in ...

    On ACCA: Just a hunch
But why do I get the feeling that
    :::Edit 2/21: Called it.:::

Anyway, this is one of those animes that has the potential to be a decent, engaging story. Unfortunately I'm not sure that potential will be realized before most of us in the audience gets fed up or bored by the slow, ponderous pace ...

    Political intrigue, deliberately paced
I enjoy the deliberate pace (and concentration on characters' conversations, actions). The premise is interesting - 13 independent territories united under one monarchy (delicately teetering between collapse/transition). One man is the balance between the multiple bureaucrats and their plots.

The art is beautiful - simple and clean. As a view, I am not inundated with competing graphics, ...

  • Intense and dramatic. A must-watch for those looking for something unique.
With its mature and realistic artsyle, political themes, suspenseful mystery, cunning protagonist, and a nostalgic atmosphere that somewhat strikes a balance between 1920's America and George Orwell's 1984, ACCA provides a breath fresh air that quells what can be described as a dry spell of underwhelming variety.

The anime covers topics regarding the ins and outs of geopolitics ...
