I can't say it's perfect, but I think a lot of people are missing the concept here.
This review is mainly intended for people unfamiliar with the series. What you have to understand is that this anime is based on games already more than a decade and a half old. This is an equivalent of the FFVII remake, no one is going to be 100% happy. No one played the game exactly the same. A lot of the heart of the game is in the dialog, and there's literally hours of material that could ...

Literally as good as an Ace Attorney anime can get, people need to cool it
Let's face it: Although people constantly thought Ace Attorney would work well as an anime, it really doesn't. The games take a slow pace - The cases, or at least most of them, are not pieced together in a short space of time, they take hours and hours of carefully piecing clues together, shifting through testimonies, disproving accounts, and going through interesting dialogue. Phoenix stumbles ...

Good ol' Ace Attorney. Nothing more, nothing less.
After watching the first twelve episodes (which is a standard lapse of time for a season), I can honestly say that I love it. Yes, I've played EVERY Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney game and I was just as astonished as I was when I first played this masterpiece and when I first watched the anime. But there's a few points I'd like to explain concerning the anime:

First of all, the characters are ...

One Dimensionally Authentic To The Source
When producing an anime based on a story-centered game in an episodic format, it is best not to rock the boat too much. This series follows that philosophy pretty well, with the first five episodes being decent transcriptions more than translations to a narrative animated format.
However, when the source is a murder mystery adventure game, there can be huge problems in pure transcription. First ...

    cheesiness abound and loving it
I say the following as an avid fan of the games:
It is very loyal, which I appreciated greatly.
It doesn't take itself too seriously, which is good, because the biggest charm of this series is the humour.
It's doing something I never thought I could see: a decent anime adaptation of a video game, and so far, it is doing it with beautiful animation, scenery, metaphors and splendid, splendid ...

    OBJECTION! 4/5 stars
The Anime adaptation for Ace Attorney seems good and stays true to the game but I'm a little confused about why they didn’t keep the part where the Witness Threw his toupee at Ryūichi Naruhod. Also the game's characters acted more realistic. Plus they also did a decent job allowing the spectator "The Person Watching The Show" learn more about the case to a point when they can guess before the ...

Not worth watching, unless you've played the games.
Ace Attorney is guilty of the following crimes: Over dramatization to a farce, Complete Deus ex Machina at every turn, ethically questionable from a legal stance, and worse a horrendous kangaroo court system.

I find myself quite disappointed with the Ace Attorney anime, I really wanted to like it having an interest in law and a desire to play the games, however, there are far too many ...

Funny if you watch for graphics
The game series is really fun, funny and interesting but the anime is a total disappointment to me. I just watch it because sometimes the art is funny. They lost alot of nice story plot and the "shockwave" battle in court was kind of overused... The Phoenix Wright in game was so much more handsome. But I like the Edgeworth, Larry and Maya in the anime

    Ace Attorney anime... HOLD IT!!!
The Ace Attorney (AA) anime is a great adaptation for what it is, remember, we're still recovering from other video game movies, AA is a step in the right direction, of course some things were changed. I mean, would you watch an anime where Pheonix looks at the guy for about 5 minutes then yells

    HOLD IT!
only to fail questioning his witness.

Sticks to the Game, can't complain
I really don't know what some people were expecting when this show started. I'm totally fine reliving my Ace Attorney experience from a few years back. AA is still fresh, fun and if you are completely clueless about the series it's totally worth looking into.

Maya is certainly nothing to complain about either ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
