    Totaly worth a marathon
I didn't know anything about Mahjong, and still don't, but I enjoyed this show very much. Akagi's cool and calm personality is kind of thrilling. The other thing that I loved was his voice (voiced by Masato Hagiwara) his voice suits him so much.

If you like mind games then I recommend this show.

    One of the Unknown Greats
It's such a shame that more people haven't seen this show. It really is deserving of a place among the likes of Bebop, Eva, Fate/ Zero and the like. The intense mental conflicts all through the show are just great. Now on my top 10 list!

    Just INSANE!! An unknown GREAT!!
I picked this anime just out of curiosity, and I was totally hooked from the first episode. Hell I became a member just to stop all the announcements from playing so I could see it without interruptions. It did not disappoint! Truly a MUST WATCH!!!!!

Not well known but something you should definitely check out
You'd think you would have to understand the game they were playing in order to understand this anime, but this isn't the case. I to this day dont understand the rules to mahjong and i still found this fantastic. This was because it wasnt so much as a game of mahjong as it was phsycological warfare between the badass/mysterious Akagi Shigeru and his opponents. Overall, this was an amazing anime ...

Amazing! A World I Never Knew!
Ok, so I saw this was added and I was looking for something to watch. It seemed pretty interesting plus I heard it was a classic so I had to check it out.

I was hooked after the first episode! There is just simply something about it that draws you in and won't let you go. Quite simply, it is a show about a punk kid who turns out to be a genius mahjong player. Genius to the point of ...

    Incredible anime. A must watch.
I can't say I've ever given an anime a 5-star rating before, but this has definitely earned it. I would even consider it my all-time favorite anime that competes with Naruto, Fate Zero or Attack on Titan. I feel that the only drawback is the "narrator" that sometimes narrates a little too much obvious detail but other than that it's perfect. So freaking good.

    Fantastic, but no closure
I started watching Akagi after seeing Kaiji (written by same author). The plot follows a young gambling prodigy named Akagi and his dealings with the yakuza. The only game played is Riichi (Japanese) style Mahjong. I went into the show with no prior knowledge of the game and could not follow exactly what was going on very well, but I enjoyed watching Akagi nonetheless. The character Akagi is a bit ...

    Unique anime, but falls short.
The beginning of this series is great; the author's ability to create a story about mahjong into a suspenseful and captivating series is an achievement. The first 18 or so episodes until the last arc (i wanna call it, akagi vs old man) were great. However, that last arc was so painful to watch, and the ending was subpar, but I read that it is related to the manga so I can't blame the anime people ...

AKAGI WILL MAKE YOU HIGH FOR MORE!!!!
Even if you don't understand the rules or concept of the game, Akagi has that aura that makes you want to keep watching. The narrator adds that extra eccentric "spice" that makes this anime a MUST WATCH!!

    Amazing show- must watch
Although i don't understand the game of mahjong at all, this was still an amazing show that kept you involved throughout the entire episode and entire series. I finished the show in a matter of 2-3 days. Watch, you will not be dissapointed.
