@ zangalewa the anime changes the reason too. in this she has a neurological condition. the reason angelic layer was made (in anime) was to help fund research about her disease. in the manga, she's just super shy.

Man, there are alot of spoilers here. Her light body type is not her weakness, nyah. She was MADE like that, for a story line. It's as much her weakness as it is everyone small. That was something Misaki knew about when she made Hikaru.
