I can sum this entire series up in just one word... CLAMP. For those who have read and seen other series by them then you know what Iam saying.

This anime at first doesn't seem to have a very deep plot and seems like it is just going to be an action anime, but as the episodes go by you start to see more of the main characters' struggles with their feelings.

As with many CLAMP titles this series starts fairly slowly, though as you near the end the pace quickly picks up and finishes at full speed ahead.

I would really recommend watching this series.

So this girl from who knows where moves to the big city to live with her aunt, stops in the middle of traffic to stare at a video of dolls fighting (though excellently), and starts talking to a stranger who then convinces her to go buy some of this from the nearest toy store. A Rock em Sock em Robot tournament-style anime ensues. She learns heart-warming lessons about Angelic Layer, life, and family along the way.

Yeah, some of the decisions made by characters are unrealistic. (See above.) But there are also several realistic ones. (I used to behave like Tomo, beating up on my guy friends.)

There was one character that if they had been a real person, I would have HATED her guts for being not only cruel, but selfish and cowardly. I won't name names because I don't like writing spoilers, but I'm positive you'll know who I meant once you watch the show...... which in spite of my ranting, was still enjoyable enough to watch that I watched all of it. To get me that mad about one character's actions, the writers had to have done something right.

This was an excellent show for some good reasons:

1. No deamons, devils etc.
2, No shrines etc that you have to figure out what is going on.
3, The purpose has a very noble note and makes you wish this was true to help people in real life (I dont want to spoil it) but I wish what was invented really existed (need to see the last ep to see it)
The ending is excellent, I loved it.

Very well written

Very cute, I loved it.

I loved everything about this series. It might be old but it's still awesome!. Characters were adorable, music was nice, animation was pretty cool, the storyline was just beautiful and a bit of a shock towards the end. A young girl, coming to Tokyo, learning to use basically her mental abilities to control dolls to fight, making new friends, battling many different opponents, getting in-tuned with herself and her doll, finally meeting her mother without realizing it! the emotional scene when finally being able to speak!..THEIR BATTLE! OH IT'S JUST SO HEART WARMING AND BEAUTIFUL! THOSE WHO WILL WATCH..will find this very touching

Over a decade old and I still find this an enjoyable series. My first encounter with Angelic Layer was back in 2003 with ADV's DVD release. I knew of the manga beforehand, being a CLAMP fan it's hard not to remember their series. It wasn't until 2007 that I had gotten around to actually buying it, thanks to ADV's thinpak re-release. I read the manga before I bought the series. The series made me wish there was actually a game like Angelic Layer, I imagine it gave a similar feeling to the thousands or hundreds of thousands who had once or will watch this series.

This series marked a first among the CLAMP series, in that there was less focus in detail and more in poses and gestures. It's not necessarily bad as I was already familiar with less detailed characters in releases such as Argentosoma or Witch Hunter Robin. The character detail isn't the greatest, but with this series that isn't the main selling point. The fight sequences were interesting to watch, and a few of them hooked me into wondering how Misaki and her angel Hikaru would get themselves through the fights. Now characterizations is a different point.

The main characters are unique in their personalities and compliment each other as duos. That's not to say that individually they are weak, it's just all the better when characters like Sai Jounouchi and Kaede Saito are together. It's that sense of completion so to speak. The interactions between Misaki and her friends seem natural. The meetings of the episodic characters with their angels are a bit refreshing between tournaments with the growth of Misaki as an individual. During the tournaments, she meets and fights against other players, otherwise known as Deus in the series, with their corresponding angels. The angels are characters themselves, each one is different than the other, each with different fighting styles thanks to their Deus.

The music wasn't so bad, I felt that it was a little drab at times. A few scores seemed overused such as the music played during the tournament. It was more or less forgettable at times and for me the standout piece was the opening sequence. It showcased all the characters and their angels. The singing was upbeat, much like many of the songs in the series and it had given me all the more reason to wanting to watch Angelic Layer.

All in all, this was a great series to watch, and a good manga to read. I know people have their preferences, and mine is the conclusion found in the anime adaptation. The original felt kind of weak because of a single reason, but the character in question was a bit more airheaded and enjoyable than in the tv series. For those who know can agree. Perhaps I'm a fan of more of a somber atmosphere. Angelic Layer entrances it's viewers from the first episode to the last second of the final episode for fans like myself. The fight scenes were exquisitely made, and another plus was that it was easy to find a character to identify with, even if it's just a little bit.

CLAMP and all of their works have always held a very special place in my heart, ever since I started loving manga and anime. Angelic Layer is definitely no exception. Despite the fact that it is a little dated and that it is quite short, Angel Layer is definitely one of the better anime adaptations of CLAMP's work. The art and animation are well balanced and the fight sequences are wonderful! Though the story isn't as complex as some of CLAMP's later work (circa Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and xxxHolic), the characters and situations are simple and poignant. Angelic Layer is, without a doubt, a classic and is worth a watch!

Angelic Layer is, what can I say, uhmmn, a rather 'old' anime, but I believe this is one of the first animes I loved. It's a manga series released by Clamp, one of the two Clamp title I like. :| I followed this series when I was in second grade, and just recently read the manga. Yes, like most animes, the manga is better.

The reason i adored this was because of the relationship between humans and those cool battle dolls. I always dreamt of having my own battle doll. Anyways, the storyline was quite simple, kind of full of girly stuff, and romance.

I recommend this to anyone who can bear watching dolls fighting, with a mix of young romance. And friendship.
