Fanart Friday is back, proudly saying that we don't need no stinkin' theme every week.  Last week, we took a look at the dark side of fanart--no, not the side that illustrates the stuff tagged "Adult" on Fanfiction.net, but villains!  I'm going back to basics this week and just showing off a bunch of new, different works from a bunch of different series that I like and hopefully you like too.

I'm a little sad that you can't play a Wookiee in Star Wars: The Old Republic.  Maybe BioWare knew that demand for a "rip somebody's arm off and beat them with it" skill would be too high, and they wanted to keep their "Teen" rating.

Y'know, for all the hilarious melodrama of the Drizzt books, the Dark Elf Trilogy is actually pretty good.  This is one Western fantasy property that I think would make a really good anime or manga.

I'm one of the few people who liked all three Matrix movies.  Yeah, Revolutions had kind of a goofy ending, but aside from that, it felt the least pretentious and didn't have to try so hard with what it was going for: a large-scale final battle.

Does anybody remember those Gundam manga published by TokyoPop that had the 4-koma in the back of the book, after the main story?  The ones where Domon was depicted as a total idiot?  Because those were awesome even though I love G Gundam.

So... Samus is blonde.  She's a kick-ass space warrior.  And minus all the creepy fanart of her Zero Suit, she's a respectable female character.  So what was the problem with Mass Effect 3's Shepard being blonde?

Sorry guys, Final Fantasy XII was excellent.  Its only problem was Square Enix's idiotic decision to change the story from being about a hardened soldier's redemption (y'know, like Metal Gear?) to a whiny tagalong's grand adventure.  Vaan and Penelo are C-3PO and RD-D2 to Balthier and Fran's Han Solo and Chewbacca.

1- Put together a piece you're proud of.

2- PM me the link to your work on dA, Pixiv, ConceptArt, or whatever art-hosting site you have by Thursday, December 8.  No Photobucket!  I want a guarantee that the art is yours.

3- I'll choose a handful of submissions to put into December 9's Fanart Friday, and any that aren't used will carry over to future Fanart Fridays.
