FEATURE: Fanart Friday, Six-Button Edition

Okay, fine, some fighting games are four-button

Fanart Friday returns, all prepared this week, as opposed to last week's slapdash chaos. Throughout my time writing for CRN, I've mentioned several times, through reviews and news posts, that I love fighting games. Yes, even Dead or Alive, which I'm feeling especially antagonistic about after getting curbstomped by Alpha-152 for hours while trying to get those last few achievements last night.

One of the best things about fighting games are their huge and diverse casts, with standout characters that we love and a bunch of nobodies who always show up in every installment. At the end of the day, that's all that's left: we may complain about cheap game mechanics and idiotic story decisions, but the characters are what stand out most and what inspire the fanart.

Because as far as I know, nobody ever made fanart of Evo Moment #37.

DISCLAIMER:  None of the art presented is the property of myself or Crunchyroll.  All characters and series are tm and © their respective creators and corporate owners.  All art is the creative property of their respective artists.  Any artists who wish to have their work removed from this article may contact me, and appropriate action will be immediately taken.

So what happened to Rival Schools? We got the first game on PS1, then Project Justice on the Dreamcast, and then... that's it? Honestly I'd like one of these more than a Darkstalkers revival.

Street Fighter's El Fuerte vs. Virtua Fighter's El Blaze! Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen! And for that matter, why don't more people play VF? It's probably the best 3D fighting game experience you're gonna get!

So I've never really been an Arcana Heart fan, but I know the feeling when your game is marginalized and treated as second-rate. Chin up, AH fans!

While this is an older piece, it's great to see art of lesser-known KoF characters like Angel and her psychotically hard command inputs.

I'm a little sad that this wasn't scanned and was instead just photographed, but it's one of the best Dead or Alive pieces I've ever seen.

So, Guilty Gear fans, which was your favorite XX update? Actually, let's not do that, that'll start a flame war in the comments.

Felicia was kind of a strange choice for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 from the Darkstalkers stable--I'd have gone with Lord Raptor or Jon Talbain, but hey, I'm not complaining.

The Mortal Kombat games have always been a question mark for me. I find them incredibly fun, but I can only stick with them for a little while.

So has anybody else seen Tekken: Blood Vengeance? Or were you too scarred from Tekken: The Motion Picture?

Okay, what person in their right mind would let Juri near children?

So yeah, Blazblue is kind of a mess with its balance updates, buffing characters who don't need it and nerfing already weak characters, but hey, at least online is not "just Rachel and Jin" any more, right? And we have Makoto!

And that's all for this week! Next time, we'll put on our Santa hats and catch up on our advent calendars for a Christmas-themed Fanart Friday! Were there any fighting games or characters you love that I missed this week? Let us know in the comments!
