The 1st Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair, also called "Kyomafu" for short, was held at Museum of Kyoto-shi Kangyo (Miyakomesse) in Kyoto-city on September 21st-23rd. The organizer officially announced the total number of visitors of the three days was 23,800; 1,000 for 1st day (business day), 13,400 for 2nd day (open public day), and 9,400 for 3rd day. Considering the size and the location of the building, it was a very successful result for first-time event. They have announced nothing about their future plans, but it seems very hopeful.
Everyone at the event had to notice the absence of one famous anime company in the region, Kyoto Animation (Haruhi Suzumiya series, K-ON!, Hyouka). As the name shows, the company is located in Kyoto, but they decided not to participate in the local event for some unknown reason. Let's hope they will change their mind for the future events.
