Fanart Friday returns, enjoying the warmth of flannel bedsheets way too much. Last week, we powered up and fought for two dozen episodes with our favorite characters from Dragon Ball, but this week we're cooling down--literally--with all the fun that snow, winter, and the freezing cold bring!
I haven't dealt with snow since I was a kid in Washington state, so it still holds magic for me--plus, I was a kid, so I didn't have to deal with the "magic" of shoveling three feet of it out of the driveway every morning. Let's get started!

Let it be known that the Great Snowball War was actually instigated by Italy. Because he's an idiot. By the way, did you know that Japan has an annual competitive snowball fight in Hokkaido? It sounds pretty awesome!
Miku gets a winter reskin redesign! While her black/grey with turqoise hair design is instantly recognizable, I honestly wouldn't mind a full-on switch to this look for a while.
Would-be world conqueror Squid Girl lives by the beach and is most at home in the water, so she'd probably freak out at the sight of snow. Although can you imagine how easy it would be to put a snowman together with all those extra "hands?"
We return to coverage of the Snowball War, where it looks like some maniac has invited Broly to join the fray. He really needs to put a shirt on before he puts somebody's eye out.
Even super-hot-blooded historical figure Date Masamune is affected by the winter blues. What is it about cloudy weather and freezing cold that brings all productivity and motivation to a halt?
Kuro and Toro--Sony's Japanese mascots--are a little too mischievious to be left alone in the snow. Has anyone had a chance to check out the not-half-bad PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale?
Meanwhile, fighting has spilled into Kanon's normally-nice neighborhoods. Here's hoping that "uguuu" chick catches an ice ball in the face.
I didn't get far enough into Oreimo to be introduced to Ruri, but I've spent enough time here on Crunchyroll to know she's crazy popular.
The whole message behind Yotsuba&! is "enjoy everything," and it's kind of hard not to enjoy a snow day in the park. But the question is, just what is Yotsuba building there? A snow-alien?
For a while, Japan was totally into the K-drama Winter Sonata--there was even an anime made of it! But y'know what would've made that anime even better? Golgo 13-style art. Yep.
And the insanity escalates further, as tanks are brought into the conflict! I thought I'd seen it all with the moe personifications, but Girls und Panzer proved me wrong. What's next, helicopters? Trains?
So does Pikachu have a two-piece snowman that he's standing on top of, or is it a three-piece snowman where Pikachu is the head?
You can tell Goku's trying hard to be Vegeta's pal--he got his expression just right.
Y'know what I haven't watched in a while? Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. Have I ever mentioned how weirded out I get at fanservicey artwork of snow "demon" Tsurara?
When Square stops giving us zipper-and-hairspray science-fantasy epics, a part of me hopes they'll team up with Nintendo again for another Super Mario RPG. Or at least let Intelligent Designs or Alpha Dream use their characters in a Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi title.
Type-Moon stories have a habit of taking place during the winter, at least for long stretches. How long do you think it'll be until Mahou Tsukai no Yoru gets an anime adaptation?
It's nice to see that even in the technologically-advanced world of Mega Man (in this case, from Battle Network), there's still the simple comfort of a plain old furnace. Al Ferry always seemed old-school as hell anyways.
Even bad guys can enjoy the snow. You'd figure Itachi and Kisame spent about as much time just hanging out and enjoying the scenery as they did making trouble in Naruto.
You'd think Bleach's Hitsugaya would be leaving the 10th Division as a frozen wasteland, but unlike a lot of ice-themed characters, he's actually... kinda bland. Not a single ice reference for days, and that's a crying shame!
And that's everything for this week!
Of course, your art is always welcome here, regardless of your skill level or experience, so send me links to your work and I'll make sure to include them in a future installment! For those of you wanting to get started for next week's Fanart Friday, we'll be continuing the annual tradition with another CHRISTMAS SPECIAL!
Thanks for checking out Fanart Friday, and we hope to see you all next week!
