“TOKYO GAME SHOW 2013 (TGS 2013)” was held over four days from 19th to 22nd September 2013 at Makuhari messe, Chiba prefecture. Number of visitors reached approximately 102,400 on the first public day, ending in highest record of total visitors during the whole period: 270,197. Numbers of participated countries/regions and companies also hit new high record of 33 countries/regions and 352 companies/associations (domestic: 190, international: 162).
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.’s “Play Station 4″, opened to public for the first time in the nation, and Microsoft Corporation’s “Xbox One” gathered much attention that numbered tickets for test-play were out soon after openings each day.
Other booths for games such as “Sengoku BASARA 4″which placed a huge statue of Date Masamune, or latest popular-crime-action-series “Grand Theft Auto V” (PS3, Xbox360, out 10th October) which made queues of 120 minutes long, were in the main stream.
Cosplay area, sensational every year, changed its location from main hall to another independent hall to expand scale. Many cosplayers nailed characters in popular games boasted their costumes, which will be reported in an individual edition.
The next TGS, TGS2014 is planned to be held from 18th to 21st September 2014 at the same venue.
In collaboration-booth of “Ghost in the Shell: Arise” and “JINS”, eyeglasses-vending-machine “JINS Self Shop” and “Logicoma” which appears in the series, were placed accompanied with booth bunnies wearing new model of “JINS PC”, blue-light eliminating glasses. This high-end model “JINS PC for HACKERS” (9,990 yen) was sold only during the four days of TGS2013, in special collaboration package with print of Motoko Kusanagi.
