Dark Horse Digital App Launches April 27

Lone Wolf and Cub among listed launch comics

In what they've personally deemed "one of the most eagerly anticipated programs in the history of Dark Horse," the comics publisher has announced the date on which their digital app will be available to the public.

The Dark Horse Digital app and store is set to arrive in a week's time, on Wednesday, April 27. The iOS app will be available as a free download in the iTunes store, and comes pre-loaded with the first issue of Hellboy: Seed of Destruction. A small selection of additional comics will be in the store as free downloads, as well, with more offers being made available as users sign up for Dark Horse's digital newsletter.

But what's most exciting about this is, of course, the potential for more digital manga access. At the moment, the only manga series listed for launch appears to be Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima's classic Lone Wolf and Cub, of which they have the first four volumes listed. That alone is pretty darn heartening.

Comics fans sans iPhones or iPads need not fret. Dark Horse's digital comics can also be read via any modern browser, and a native Android app is in development.
