Most tokusatsu (special effects) series feature Japanese superheroes in brightly colored outfits duking it out for dominance of your sunny weekend mornings. Garo—which originally aired for 25 episodes on TV Tokyo from 2005-2006—was different. Decidedly more "adult" (which mostly means it had violence, dark themes and boobies), the late-night series is soon to see a resurgence in the form of a new video production spin-off: KIBA the Dark Knight Gaiden.
Aside from its alluring mature nature, one of the chief attractions of Garo was the involvement of creator Keita Amemiya, who is well known for his dark spin on the genre with films like Zeiram and Mechanical Violator Hakaider.
Though details are scant—the site notes that they will be announcing new products, pricing info and release dates soon—anyone who got a gander of Garo should be sufficiently excited to see some spinoff action coming our way. Now all we need is a solid, legit region 1 release of Garo for all action-minded animals to consume
