Considering the quality of the manga, it shouldn't really be a surprise, but this news warms my heart like no other. Dark Horse editor Michael Gombos recently let Anime News Network know that Lone Wolf and Cub is now the #2 bestseller in Dark Horse's newly launched digital storefront.
Kazuo Koike (Lady Snowblood, Crying Freeman) and Goseki Kojima's sprawling 28-volume tale of Ogami Itto and his son Daigoro, first published in 1970, ranks right behind the Mass Effect comic adaptation, which sits high and mighty on its #1 throne. Lone Wolf and Cub also enjoys lofty status as Dark Horse's bestselling print title, making it their top seller overall.
As of right now, Dark Horse's digital store—the comics from which can either be read in browser or on one of Apple's iOS devices (Android app on its way)—offers up the first four Lone Wolf volumes, priced at $4.99 a piece. Brief previews are available at the pages for each volume. Anyone try the store out for themselves yet?
