This will be the first anime/animation film festival in the island.

An anime production studio ufotable (Kara no Kyoukai, Fate/zero) has revealed their plan of setting up a movie theater that will show mainly anime films in the Shinmachi district of Tokushima city. The city has also included 15,000,000 yen (US$183,217) in the budget proposal for the preparation of the theater. The theater is expected to be opened by the spring of 2012.

There has been no theater in the district since 2006. The city and Kondo Hikaru, the president of ufotable, are trying to revive the local community by attracting young people with anime.
