At a dinner the charity Covenant House California held in his honor, director James Cameron confirmed his big screen adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's Battle Angel Alita (Gunnm) manga is on hold.
Cameron's intention is to adapt the first three volumes of the series to film, but that will have to wait. First up are the two planned sequels to the colossal hit Avatar, which are currently in the early stages of planning and pre-production.
Cameron on the project: "I'm doing a second and third film. We're at the writing stage right now, early design, doing software development and so on. Battle Angel is right now on hold until those films are done."
