Lucy Punch (Bad Teacher, Take Me Home Tonight) has signed on to play the female detective, Deena Pilgrim, in the live-action adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis' Powers. Rumors are also circulating that Friday Night Lights' Kyle Chandler, has been approached to play the role of her partner, Christian Walker. Bailee Madison (Conviction, Just Go with It) and Charles S Dutton (Homicide: Life on the Streets, Legion) have also signed on for the series. Currently a pilot is being filmed for the FX cable channel.

The original graphic novel was created in 2000 by comic book writer, Brian Michael Bendis and artist, Michael Avon Oeming. The story focuses on the lives of two detectives that live in a world were superheroes are common place. The two detectives solve crimes involving citizens with powers, all-the-while hiding secrets about their own relationship to the world of superheroes.

There are a total of 13 volumes currently available with Image distributing the first five and Marvel's Icon imprint publishing the remaining eight. Volume 14 is scheduled for release on January 11, 2012.
