On June 22, Matsue station and the social affairs & environmental division of Shimane Prefectural Police arrested a 29-year-old male JSDF (Japanese Self Defense Force) officer from Sakaiminato-city, Tottori, on suspicion of using Share file-sharing software to upload the 10th volume of the manga "Pani Poni", PC game "Dynasty Warriors 5 Special " and "Nobunaga's Ambition Tendoh" to the Internet without the copyright holders' permissions, ACCS (The Association of Copyright for Computer Software) reported.
According to the report, the suspect uploaded the 10th volume of the Hekiru Hikawa's "Pani Poni" manga to the Internet on March 3, 2010, then PC game "Dynasty Warriors 5 Special " and "Nobunaga's Ambition Tendoh" on September 10, 2010. Before the arrest, the police had searched the suspect's house on May 30, and had seized a PC and hard-discs which contained 1,600 files. The police says he had uploaded various game software, indecent pictures, movies, anime, and manga. He was also taken red-handed on May 30 for the suspicion of uploading child pornography information. The JSDF officer has admitted his guilt and said "I had uploaded the files to keep the speed of downloading."
The report also mentions that the right holders of the 14th volume of the "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin" manga have brought a charge against the JSDF officer. The charge was brought by the publisher of the manga, Kadokawa Shoten and supposedly the creator, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko.
