On Sat/25, before performing at a benefit concert in Japan for victims of the 3/11 earthquake and tsunami, Lady Gaga was implicated in a federal class action suit over the “We Pray for Japan” charity bracelets she’s been selling on her website.
The 1-800-Law-Firm legal network claims that Gaga has been pocketing a portion of the $5.00 price for the relief bracelets. Gaga's website had claimed that all proceeds from the bracelets would be given to charity.
According the Washington Post:
The $5 million class action suit alleges that Gaga and her co-defendants, including Universal Music Group and its merchandising company, Bravado, retained a portion of the wristband proceeds and inflated shipping charges. The Michigan-based law firm claims to have uncovered evidence of racketeering through sources including “a review of publicly available documents and interviews with confidential witnesses,” according to the complaint.
No statement is yet available from the Gaga camp, but we have to wonder...Is this karmic justice for Gaga's recent use of a Hatsune Miku style blue-green wig in concert?
