Potter and Pokémon Top New Ghibli Movie at Japanese Box Office

Goro Miyazaki's Latest Debuts at #3

Studio Ghibli's new Kokuriko-Zaka Kara (From Kokuriko Hill), written and stoyboarded by Hayao Miyazaki and directed by Goro Miyazaki, debuted at the number three in the Japanese box office.

In the adaptation of Chizuru Takahashi and Tetsuro Sayama's manga , Masami Nagasawa (live action versions of Mitsuru Adachi's sports manga Touch andRoughGodzilla Final WarsGodzilla vs. Mothra vs. Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS) plays the heroine, a girl named Komatsuzaki growing up in Yokohama in the 60's.  Junichi Okada (Prince Arren in Goro Miyazaki's Tales from Earthsea adaptation) plays the male lead.  

 

 

 


Ghibli's last film, Arrietty the Borrower debuted at #1 in the Japanese box office, and was the year's top anime draw, beating One Piece Film Strong World and Pokemon Diamond & Pearl: Genei no Hasha Z.
