What manga is that ninja guy from? The guy who's second on the left in that JManga image, with the manly eyebrows.
If I can read the name on the picture correctly, it's "The Larceny Log of Zampei the Cloud Snatcher" which is an absurdly silly name, but eh xD
Here's a hint: "......."
for anyone curious here is a list of the manga coming to jmanga note fairy tail is most likely to be on there as well since a image relating to jmanga has natsu on it http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-03-25/japanese-publishers-jmanga.com-portal-now-in-beta
Wow! There's nothing on that list that interests me. At least, not enough to pay the subscription fee.
I've been in the beta and can confirm that the list on ANN is not final or accurate. There's some very cool anime-related titles that are not mentioned.
I hope the prices that a member in the forum mentioned aren't anywhere near accurate either..
since your a beta tester can you confirm that medaka box (weekly shonen jump),fairy tail (weekly shonen magazine) and beelzebub (weekly shonen jump) will be on there?
I hope it will be available to those of us not living in the US
yup i have entered the beta as well. and i can confirm that there are more titles. and the Online reader works well so far. though the cost point is a little more then i would like .
yeeaaaaaaaaaaaa
''North America targeting''... Laaaaame
really: I expect some effort from you guys! ^^
They have to have a starting point for building up funds. It'll take time and money to license things for global use, so North America is the default/easy choice for such companies to begin gaining money. I doubt they mean it to imply their only wish is to cater to only the North American audience.
Yeah, but it would be nice to know that, if they do plan to go out of America at some point, they mentioned that, at least.
It's great to hear they can have a launch date now. I wish for the best here. Unlike CR in which I never used the trial period and probably will never be 'not' premium, I don't know if I'll read enough manga to get my money's worth. So I'll probably need a trial first. But I want to support their efforts, so I hope to give some sort of monetary support. Thus far in past experiences (with physical manga) I have appeared to have short attention for manga, but maybe presenting it in this digital format is just what I need to get into it.
I would, right from the start ;]
If it can get me my shonen jump fix and support the creators as well, I'd sub. I think a lot of people feel the same as I do on this.
So can someone tell me if this is going to work like CR where free members can view an series or new chapter for free with ad-support after a given amount of time? Or will it be premium based only?

Also will they have a snail mail option for those of us who don't have paypal or credit card like the payment system here? Cause it would be a shame if I can't support JManga's efforts because I don't have paypal or credit card.
If I can get it in Canada then they can have my money. I'll be getting year subs just like I do with CR.
I'm kinda off and on with reading manga, sometimes I love it, other times I don't. The only manga that I typically read is One Piece and that's only when I get impatient with the anime and want to know what happens next. So depending on the membership cost and the fact that One Piece is in the picture here, I might sign up.
I would pay a monthly subscription if they launched it for Europe, and also had an iPhone app, so I can legally read manga during travel.
You know, they never do say if the manga will be translated, or just in japanese. I assume it will be translated, otherwise what's the point? But I haven't ever heard anyone specifically say if it will be.
One assumes that if they're marketing to NA audiences as their primary market, they wouldn't be foolish enough to post their goods untranslated. Possibly the occasional raw preview, but the bulk of it would have to be in English, with possibly some Spanish or French content.

That is, if they like money. Most businesses do.

The first few lines should answer you properly.
just one more month huh, I wish I could've gotten chosen for the closed beta.
I always buy the physical copy of the manga I read online when it becomes available in my country (USA) no more than a month or two after its release. Either that, or I will buy the Japanese copy even earlier. (There is a Japanese bookstore which stocks many Japanese and English manga books.) I also already have access to many series I read in the North American Shonen Jump magazine, which I have been subscribing to for years. (I do not plan to stop.) I wonder if this will really be worth it for me? I do not want to buy two or three copies of the manga I read. I already support the creators by buying the official books. Why would I pay for a digital copy I can't even hold in my hand or take to the park or on a train? (I don't have an iPad or anything like that.) I'm not sure if this will really be worth my time. I admit I do read scanlations, however, like I said, I always buy the legal copy as soon as possible. So I don't think I'm hurting the creators any. If nothing else, reading scanlations makes me more eager to buy the volumes sooner. But if I am already paying for digital manga on a site like this, I don't know if I'd even bother to pay for physical manga books anymore. And I don't want that. So most likely, I will not use this site. People seem to be hinting at a high price, and since I only read three manga series at the moment, Bleach, Bakuman, and Naruto, I don't know if I will even need this. And in the case of Naruto, the official releases have caught up pretty fast in America. Besides, I can always watch the anime of Bleach and Naruto right here on Crunchyroll. For the amount of manga I read, I did some number crunching, and I figured out that if the price per month is anything over ten dollars, it would be a pretty big ripoff for me. This is taking into consideration that this wouldn't even give us a physical copy, and therefore there would be no printing involved. I certainly will not pay double for the manga I read. If I can no longer read scanlations (even though I do buy the manga whenever it becomes available) then so be it. I can wait. But I certainly will not pay double for the same content, I think that's ridiculous. I've written a lot, and I know most people will probably have just skipped over my comment. I know I probably repeated myself many times. But I did skim other comments, and because I noticed people were saying the price was too high, or whatever, I figured I'd voice my opinion. I think if I were to use this site at all, I would absolutely need it to be a pay per view type of system. And a chapter of a Weekly Shonen Jump manga could be no more than one dollar. Think about it. A typical Jump manga volume has nine chapters. (I have checked multiple books from multiple series. Trust me.) A physical copy of an English translated manga volume generally costs around ten dollars, plus tax. (It used to cost only eight, and I believe some old volumes may still sell for that lower price.) Now if you divide the price of a full volume, by its contents of nine chapters, you will get around a dollar. Now take into consideration that this is just a digital copy, and there is no printing involved, you will see why I am reluctant to pay much for it, since I know I will be buying it later on, anyway. Would you pay twenty dollars for a manga book that you can get just as easily for ten dollars? I know I wouldn't. Apologies for rambling, but I know it wouldn't be worth it for me, unless it was a very low price, like two dollars per month.
