Emi Takei Cast as Live-Action Rurouni Kenshin Heroine

17-year-old actress taking on the role of 17-year-old Kaoru Kamiya

More casting news emerged recently regarding the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Nobuhiro Watsuki's Rurouni Kenshin manga, with the role of heroine Kaoru Kamiya going to Emi Takei.

The 17-year-old actress is no stranger to making the transition from page to screen. She recently starred in Asukou March, a television drama based on a manga by Kaori Akiyama. In Kenshin she'll be acting opposite Takeru Sato (Kamen Rider Den-O), who is playing protagonist Kenshin Himura.

The Rurouni Kenshin film is scheduled to premiere summer 2012 in Japan.

That's very interesting, I wish her the best.

Now could somebody throw us a bone about the new Anime, haven't heard anything since April!
can I just say.... not to do this >.> Live Action adaptations NEVER work as well as they should.
too bad, i was hope for no Tomoe instead of Kaoru as the main heroine in the movie.
oh hey i like her hope she does a great job :D
Given Japan's track record with LA adaptations of manga/anime series I'm inclined to agree with Barghesto. But given that Kenshin could also work as a period drama and since Japan has fared a bit better in that genre, I'm cautiously optimistic that this might work. Just hope Keishi Otomo does a good job of directing it and doesn't do any "Hollywood-esque" mistakes.
It's happening whether we like it or not, so...I'm going to fervently pray that they don't sully my favorite franchise! ^_^;
That's about all we can do, I shall keep tabs on it, because they might surprise us... but I am not getting my hopes up.
*crosses fingers* :S
