Yugi Kaido is one of the last surviving humans in a futuristic universe that's been taken over by alien monsters known as "the Blue" in this feature-length animated tale. If Yugi can't defeat them, the Blue will banish humans from Earth forever.

Fuu is a spacey waitress at a teahouse where a sword fight breaks out between Mugen, a wild warrior, and Jin, a more composed ronin. In exchange for saving them from execution, Fuu demands that they accompany her on a journey to find "a samurai who smells of sunflowers."

When Shoji Kawamori returned to the franchise he helped create, he made goofy next generation series Macross 7 and he teamed with Shinichiro Watanabe and Yoko Kanno for a more mature look at the Macross fundimentals.  The results are a must see four episodes OVA, with great drama, action and an early consideration of virtual idols.
