Tokyo’s Nerima ward is the home of Toei Doga, the studio that brought forth such legendary works of anime such as Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, One Piece, and many others. What’s more, the area is populated with smaller anime studios and animation staff members. No wonder then, that Nermia now claims to be "the birthplace of Japanimation" at the English language website for Nerima Animation.
Four years ago, the Nerima Anime Association began a contest to find and cultivate new talent in the anime industry. And they’ve just announced that they’re now accepting short anime scripts for the 2011 incarnation of the talent search.
Participation is open to everyone, regardless of age, gender, and (this is important) nationality. The catch is that the submitted stories must be in Japanese and within 2,500 characters.
The winner will have their story adapted into a five minute anime short by a well-known anime director and will be submitted to the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
The theme for this year’s contest is “time”, and entries must be sent to Nerima Anime Association by September 30th.
Break out the translation software and visit the Nerima Animation Site for full contest info.
If you’ve ever dreamed of having your own anime produced in Japan (and let’s be honest, who hasn’t) then now’s your chance!
