Wow, two Sonic the Hedgehog stories in one day, plus some Virtua Fighter? Sega's on a roll, but the latest news isn't the greatest. Sega's episodic title, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, won't be blasting into its second episode until sometime in 2012.
For many, including myself, Sonic 4 Episode 1 was a little disappointing. In fact, at this point I had more or less forgotten that more chapters were on the way, but Sega isn't letting it fall to the wayside at least.
Sonic Team's Takashi Iikuza talked to Eurogamer about the release: "This year, 2011, is the anniversary, so we're focusing on the celebration title [Sonic Generations]… But moving forward to 2012, Sonic will still be going, so I'd hope to provide episode 2 then."
Iikuza claims this progression was the plan all along, going from Episode 1 to Generations and then Episode 2. Whether or not there will be an Episode 3 after that remains to be seen, but I think we all know how difficult it is to keep a good hedgehog down.
