Square Enix Teams with Airtight Games for New Puzzler

First-person platform puzzle game comes from Portal co-creator

The latest game to be announced from the folks at Square Enix is Quantum Conundrum, a first-person platform puzzle game that teams the developer/publisher up with Airtight Games and the co-creator of Portal, Kim Swift.

The story behind Quantum Conundrum centers on a young kid who gets dropped off at his uncle's, a man who happens to be the brilliant, eccentric inventor, Professor Fitz Quadwrangle. With the professor gone missing, players must use his latest invention, the Dimensional Shift Device, to find him.

The device sounds pretty darn handy. With the press of a button it can shift the world around them to an entirely new dimension. Players will use the device to dynamically change the world and progress through Quadwrangle's complex manor. Here's the announcement trailer:

Those at Penny Arcade Expo (PAX Prime) can check out the reveal at an exclusive panel, and also meet the developers, including Creative Director Kim Swift of Portal and Left 4 Dead fame. The panel will be held on Saturday, August 27 at 7:00pm in the Pegasus Room.

Quantum Conundrum is headed for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and Windows PC in 2012. More info available via Square Enix's press release
