Team-ups are awesome, especially in video game development. Platinum Games is like a team-up every single time they put something out, combining the talents of Atsushi Inaba (Viewtiful Joe), Hideki Kamiya (Devil May Cry) and now Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil) to make rock-solid action games that blow away the competition--and one very underappreciated RPG.
On the less face-melting side of things, Mega Man and Dead Rising creator Keiji Inafune will be teaming up with Record of Agarest War's Kenta Sugano and Disgaea's Takehito Harada, among other famous character designers like Agarest's own Katsuyuki Hirano and Kei Nanameda for the hilarious-sounding Overwhelming Game Infinite Souls, a PS3 exclusive.
Aiming for an all-out, well-made RPG, Infinite Souls allows you to choose your character's face, hair, and voice, then take them into battle, where you can go completely bonkers with tower attacks, infinite cooperative attack combos, and more that let you do over a trillion points in damage--that's twelve zeroes. Characters can be indefinitely levelled up, so I'm guessing it'll take a while before I can make my enemies cough up a huge string of numbers every time they get hit.
So I take it back--Inafune and company are trying for the most face-melting JRPG ever made. What do you think? Will this be the crazy, over-the-top RPG experience it's being made out to be?
