"GTO" Spin-Off Short Story Launching in November

Although you won't have to worry about his horrible spelling this time around

A while ago, Vertical announced that they were getting the prequel to the famous GTO manga, Shonan Junai Gumi, as well as the sequel series GTO: Shonan 14 Days.  Now I don't know about you, but the adventures of tough guy with a heart of gold Onizuka Eikichi provided some of the best experiences in all the time I've read manga, so I was more than happy to find out that a spin-off to Shonan 14 Days is on its way.

The spin-off Black Diamond is going to be three chapters long and will focus on twins Riko and Miko, with no mention of everybody's favorite Great Teacher... for now, anyways.

For those unfamiliar, the story starts in Shonan Junai Gumi, following the exploits of high-school delinquents Onizuka Eikichi and Danma Ryuuji as they learn sometimes funny and sometimes painful lessons about life, love and growing up.

Internationally famous follow-up GTO follows Onizuka, now 22, fresh out of college and planning to become a teacher, solely so he can be surrounded by hotties all day, every day.  Great plan.  This of course doesn't pan out, and he's stuck teaching the most vengeful and hate-filled middle-school class in the history of mankind, so it's up to this perpetual screw-up to man up and give these kids someone to believe in.

A recently-ended follow-up, Shonan 14 Days follows Onizuka after he makes an embarrassing scene on live TV, and decides to lay low back in his hometown of Shonan.  Of course, nothing is ever simple and Onizuka helps a group of kids through their problems the only way he knows how: with a big heart and an even bigger German Suplex.

Having practically grown up reading Shonan Junai Gumi and GTO, this is awesome news to me, but what about you?  Are there any other GTO characters you think deserve a spin-off?  Tell us in the comments!
