SANKYO's Space Battleship Yamato Movie Streaming Campaign

See all the animated films for free thanks to...pachinko!

To commemorate the revival version of the "Fever: Space Battleship Yamato" pachinko machines from manufacturer SANKYO, they are hosting a campaign website that will stream all six of the animated Space Battleship Yamato movies free of charge. Alas, there are no subtitles, but frankly, I'm surprised it's not region blocked. See the schedule below:

Part one: October 24 - November 6

Space Battleship Yamato (1977)

Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato (1978)

Part Two: TBA late November

Yamato: The New Voyage (1979)

Be Forever Yamato (1980)

Part Three: TBA late November

Final Yamato (1983)

Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection (2009)

Part Four: December

Replays of Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection and Space Battleship Yamato.

Whether you know it as Star Blazers, Space Cruiser Yamato, or Space Battleship Yamato, Leiji Matsumoto's space opera is an absolute classic. It was most recently interpreted as a live action film in 2010—Space Battleship Yamato, starring Takuya Kimura and Meisa Kuroki, but the manga was adapted into a TV anime series in 1974-75.

If nothing else, it's a great anime history lesson, but at best you'll be able to give your Japanese a work-out. Who's tuning in?

And since we have your attention, here's the preview for the new Yamato pachinko itself, based on Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection!

No region restrictions? Excellent. I'll probably take the chance to at least watch the first movie. Probably the second too, after weighing my own understanding. But I'll save the rest.
you've done nothing to help us learn japanese, 2 hours is far too long.
2/3rds of these movies are mostly space battles. A good thing. I'll be checking these out to see what the video transfers look like. The recent DVDs were starting to look their age.
to bad they didn't give it to CR to sub or I would probably watch them...
Worth a shot. :)
