We shouldn't be surprised at Rockstar's Sam Houser coming out and making bold claims about Grand Theft Auto V, especially just 24 hours after the debut trailer. Despite the familiar setting, Houser says GTA V will be a "radical reinvention" of the series.
As for clarification on setting, Rockstar has confirmed that GTA V will take place primarily in Los Santos and surrounding areas, offering up a portion of the whole known as San Andreas. The game will feature the return of online multiplayer, which debuted in Grand Theft Auto IV, with the solo missions consisting of a similar structure to previous games.
Or will they? Despite everything sounding very GTA, Take-Two is calling V a "bold new direction in open-world freedom," and Rockstar's dev team is excited to share their new vision with fans.
Sounds interesting, but we'll have to wait and see how Grand Theft Auto V radically reinvents a genre the series pioneered.
