VIDEO: Mobile Phone Service Translates Japanese / English in Real-Time

400 Customer Pilot Program Launched

Japanese mobile phone carrier NTT Docomo has rolled out a pilot program, giving 400 costumers early access to its real-time Japanese <-> English translation service for mobile phones. The enabled devices listen to audio in one language, then translates it into the other. Both face-to-face and phone conversations will be supported, and, if everything goes according to plan, NTT Docomo plans to offer the service to all of its 56 million subscribers in the second half of 2012.
