VIDEO: "Yamato 2199" Anime Remake Film Teaser

Yutaka Izubuchi-directed anime opens in Japan on April 7, 2012, TV series to air after preview screening

Update: More specific details have been confirmed about the film by the Yamato Crew site in that it is actually the first two episodes of the forthcoming TV series edited together, with the "film" serving as the preview screening for the series ahead of its TV airing later that month. The official site for the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 anime remake film is live, and it has the very first teaser trailer for the Yutaka Izubuchi-directed project. Check it out below.



Izubuchi, who is perhaps best known for his work on RahXephon, is joined by character designer Nobuteru Yuki (Escaflowne, Record of Lodoss War) in this XEBEC and AIC produced film, which is based on the original story by late Yamato series producer Yoshinobu Nishizaki.


Space Battleship Yamato 2199 hits Japanese theaters on April 7, 2012.
