"Kingdom" Manga to be Adapted into TV Anime in 2012

Studio Pierrot take on Yasuhisa Hara manga headed to NHK

According to the 51st issue of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine, a TV anime version of Yasuhisa Hara's manga Kingdom has been green-lit. The historical tale, based in China nearly 2,500 years ago, has been running in Weekly Young Jump since 2006.

 

The animated version is being produced by Studio Pierrot, and is set for broadcast on NHK next year. The story centers on two boys without families, Li Xin and Hyo, who aim to overcome their lowly stature and become warlords during the Warring States Period.
