The latest details from Weekly Famitsu concerning Yakuza 5 shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, but may still be welcome information. Considering Of the End—which is being localized as Dead Souls—brought on the zombie apocalypse, Yakuza 5 will pick up after Yakuza 4, with Kazuma Kiryu returning as the protagonist.
The game will consist of five locations: Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, Sapporo, and Nagoya. Apparently the tech of Sega's series has been improved enough to allow seamless transitions betwen adventure mode and battles. The game will also sport shortened loading times, an improved camera and better character expressions.
Finally, Sega is traveling to the game's five cities in search of girls who will act as a "cheering squad" for Yakuza 5, also appearing in commercials. From the looks of Famitsu's coverage, Yakuza 5 will be a pretty massive game. Development is in an early phase, so the PlayStation 3 release date is still listed as TBA.
