"Persona 4" Anime vs. Video Game: Character Designs Compared

No surprise that they are pretty faithful

A fan put together this comparison chart of the main Persona 4 characters as featured in the currently airing anime and various video game versions:

  

 

You may want to take advantage of this at full size, but from left to right: as they appear in the anime, the opening of the anime, the character introductions on the anime's website; then an in-game portrait from the original on PS2, in the opening of that game, in the an anime cut-scene from the game, and their character introductions from the game's website; then website character introduction portraits from the Vita game, Persona 4: The Golden; then character introduction portraits from the 360 and PS3 version.

 

Seems like a lot of work to make this chart for designs that seem to have stayed pretty faithful, but Yaraon! notes that the faithfulness should make fans of the original happy.

The characters are pretty much the same, with the exception of Kanji. His hair in the game makes him look much cooler than his anime self. Still, nothing major. Hadn't noticed that they were updating character portraits for Persona 4: The Golden.

The game and show are both great, especially to me as a long time Shin Megami Tensei fan. I think SMT Nocturne would make a pretty sick and twisted animation depending on how it played out. I really hope for another chance to play as a Demifiend in another game. That one is my favorite in the series so far, and I strongly recommend it to anyone who likes Persona or any game in the SMT franchise.
