"Final Fantasy Type-0" Director Muses on Next Game in Series

Hajime Tabata would like departure from Fabula Nova Crystallis foundation

What's next for Square Enix's Type series? What's that you say? You haven't even touched Final Fantasy Type-0 yet? Hey, it's been out for a few weeks in Japan, so naturally it's time for Square Enix to start thinking about the sequels!

Type-0 director Hajime Tabata is doing just that, and while nothing has been finalized, he believes Square Enix's plan is to create a follow up to Type-0. As for what he wants, Tabata said he would be happy if he could create a different world setting than that of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series.

Tabata's ambitions don't stop there, though. He would also like to work on a console title or with next generation hardware, which is understandable since he's been making PSP games since Crisis Core: Final Fantasy. On top of that, he would also like to make a sequel to The 3rd Birthday, the Parasite Eve title released in North America this past March.

So, is it too early to start thinking seeeequeeeel for you? Would you welcome a departure from the trappings of Fabula Nova Crystallis, or has the surface barely been scratched?

yep i have played the demo "legally several times" and I enjoy it. A bit of twist for the series to play like kingdom hearts but keep that FF feel in. Now I hope for a legal port on the vita or just the psp in english.
It's a good idea to plan ahead.

Also while we're on the topic of sequels, a new Einhander and a new Bushido Blade would be nice.

Or Tobal No. 3, while we're at it.
By all that is good in the Universe, I would absolutely love a new Bushido Blade sequel!

The originality and realism in those 2 fighting games was something that we just haven't gotten from any other fighting game. I would love to see what could be done with that series on modern systems (i.e. motion-based controls, but even with just standard stick-and-buttons controls there are so many other subtle options in the realistic gameplay that could be better implemented now).

Great, thanks for getting me worked up for something that's probably never going to happen. ;)
I only played the demo.
how about a release over here before i start caring about a sequel?
I wanna try out the demo to. D:<
Are FF and KH the same type of thing?
Hmm, that's somewhat of a broad question. They're their own seperate thing, but KH is a combination of Disney and FF and has similar elements because of this. There are many different types of games under the FF title and a lot of them can be different from each other, especially this one. If you're asking if this specific game is the same type of thing to a KH game, then I would say no.
I hope it comes to state side. And soon.
I'd like SquareEnix to very much stop making so many sequels and start focusing their heart and soul on the actual series that brought them to the spotlight... They just don't spend enough time on Final Fantasy games anymore. :(
How about coming out with Versus XIII before thinking about a Type-0 sequel? FINISH YOUR PREVIOUSLY PLANED PROJECTS SQUARE ENIX!
"A different world setting"? Really? Doesn't that kind of kill the point? It's just like creating a sequel with absolutely nothing to do with other things in the series... It would be like... Creating a new sequel of Rurouni Kenshin, when the main character's name isn't Kenshin, and none of the other characters are the same. Or it's like... Making a new Avatar season, set in a different world with no relevance, or even reference to "avatar"...

(Examples taken from the "other top news section".)

If you're trying to create a new "world setting"... JUST NAME IT A DIFFERENT SERIES...
