Japan's Top Google'd Anime in 2011
Which shows were at the tips of everyone's fingers this year?
Google Japan released search ranking lists in a variety of categories for the year 2011. Some were based on number of searches while others focused on sudden increase in search volume.
Here are the top ten in the "sudden increase" anime category:
10. Hunter x Hunter
9. One Piece
8. Anpan Man
7. Toriko
6. Freezing
5. Suite PreCure
4. Steins;Gate
3. Usagi Drop
2. Mobile Suit Gundam AGE
1. Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Incidentally, in the overall search side of the lists, the live action adaptation of the Moteki manga made #8 in movies in general. It placed 6th in the Japanese movie category, followed by live action Gantz (#8), the new K-On! anime movie (#9), and live action Kaiji (#10).
Any surprises? I for one sort of expected to see some Tiger & Bunny action!

I expected to see Tiger and Bunny too =.=
action anime being googled in japan.. you're joking right?
standard shounen anime for kids/teens .. yeah that's understanble but not something like tiger x bunny where it doesn't fall in to those lines

Love love loved Usagi Drop! So glad it's on the list! I for one thought the anime followed the manga pretty good in details, perhaps not in the same order but they got all the details eventually. Also, as much as I love the series I dislike the idea of the later chapters where they grow up to highschoolers or w/e..so much better as cute little innocent kids. <3

Puella Magi Madoka Magica is #1? the anime was finished back in april. could any1 tell me whats going on with it? is there a upcoming season 2 or something?

Is the anime version that much better? I personally find this to be Im Dal Young's 2nd worst series. The pacing for this series is God awful, 9 (or was it 8?) fucking volumes of Kazuya Aoi doing nothing important, besides pushing the crappy melodramatic romance.

Gundam AGE is garbage.... The first 3 episodes is more then enough confirmation of that. What a waste of resources on a Gundam title. Going from 00 to that...... /sigh

I hope Usagi Drop's popularity leads to a second season for it (the anime only covers the first half of the Manga) and more anime adaptations of Josei manga in general. The anime series (I haven't read the manga) is refreshing because it's a major change from nearly all anime that feature young (usually teenage) gorgeous protagonists.
I'm shocked Bleach and Naruto aren't still up there. Just because, y'know?

I bout half expected to see Idol M@ster on there as much press as I've seen it get on CR.
Oh and of course Madoka. It surprised me how good it was omg it was so depressing...

being googled simply means more people are wanting to know about it. its not like its the rateings of the show. if it was important they wouldnt have to google it. they would already know about it. not speaking ill of any of the animes on this list. i like them all.
