I will always trust Platinum Games. They are one of the few modern developers who make old-school games in shiny new-school clothing: ruthlessly difficult, light on story and high on gameplay requiring technique and precision. Even their take on a classically-styled JRPG--Infinite Space--felt like the PS1 RPGs of days gone by, complete with a unique and multilayered combat system. Their only real misstep (MadWorld) wasn't terrible, just... underwhelming.
So with that mindset, I was more than happy to see a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Rising under its hilariously awesome new name Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, with Platinum developing it.
I've always preferred action games where you're rewarded for fighting with style, and it looks like that's going to be the case here, too. What about you? Looking forward to taking control of a superpowered cyborg and fighting whole armies, or were you hoping for a more traditional "tactical espionage action" feel?
