Platinum's "Anarchy Reigns" Pushed Back to Summer 2012

Four-player arena actioner was originally due in January

With all the hubbub regarding Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, it's like everybody forgot about Platinum Games' other title, Anarchy Reigns. It's okay, I did too--heck, we've only talked about it once here.

Anarchy Reigns is a four-player arena-based brawler where players can either work together to defeat waves of enemies in a single team of three, or pair up and fight another team of two, while surviving the arena's hazards. Taking the feel of old-school arcade beat-'em-ups, Anarchy Reigns combines a strange cast of characters (including MadWorld's Jack, now in color) with unconventional weapons and techniques and Platinum's inimitable style.

Originally set to release in January of 2012, Platinum has announced that the game will now be released on July 3, 2012. Regarding the delay, Sega's Senior Marketing VP Gary Knight commented:

"Anarchy Reigns brings a new take to the brawler genre and we have decided to take a little more time to deliver the full knockout punch. I can’t reveal much now, but it has something to do with scale. Let’s just say traditional one-on-one or two versus two fighters will be a thing of the past…"

Sounds like "bigger and badder" is the order of the day. What do you think? Will this delay be a good thing for the game?
