Rocksteady Gives Free "Batman: Arkham City" DLC and More

Take on Story Mode and the Challenge Maps with the "Batman Inc." skin--and more!

People like free DLC, and game companies are eager to oblige them if a game does well enough. Rocksteady, developers of Batman: Arkham City, are giving gamers a Christmas thank-you. On the game's official forums, director Sefton Hill may have been getting misty-eyed while rolling in all that dough:

"We have had an amazing release of Batman: Arkham City and we wanted to thank you all for your incredible support before, during and after the game's release. As a token to our appreciation, we'll be offering a brand new, totally super sweet, Batman Inc. Batsuit skin absolutely free! You will be able to download the skin tomorrow from Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Network and Games for Windows Marketplace. We'll be sure to let everyone know exactly when the skin [is] available."

That's kind of awesome! For those who haven't been following the comics, this (aside from the New 52 reboot) is the most current Batman costume, where Bruce Wayne travels the world to recruit a global team of "Batmen" who will represent the symbol and ideals of Batman for their respective countries. We already have Tim Drake's Red Robin outfit (if you picked up the DLC) and Catwoman's "close enough" in-game suit, so you can deck out the whole gang in modern comic outfits for the Challenge Maps if you want.

As an even cooler extra, Hill revealed a code that allowed players to use any skin they want for Story Mode and New Game+.

"We also know you want to deliver justice on the streets of Gotham as Batman in your favorite skin, any time and all the time. So using the below cheat, you can select any alternative Batman skin and play them in the main game, without having to complete the full game."

On the main menu screen, enter:

If the code is entered correctly, you'll hear a sound, and you can choose the skin you want upon starting your game. Thank you, Rocksteady, for letting me have my dream job: the guy who writes the cheat code section in a video game magazine.

Personally, I'm going to be taking to Arkham City's mean streets as the animated Batman, dispensing hilariously brutal cel-shaded justice. What about you?
