I miss arcades. Specifically, I miss them for fighting games, but I also miss the tests of pure skill and reflexes that have since only come out on handhelds or for download, like Contra 4, Code of Princess, Mega Man 9 or Super Meat Boy. Oftentimes, simple mechanics can make for a great challenge, and that's exactly what XBLA Indie title T.E.C. 3001 is shaping up to be.
Much like the arcade classics of a now-bygone era, the plot of T.E.C. 3001 is simple: you play a robot tearing through a futuristic wasteland recovering the last bits of energy needed to help the human race. The game's stark, stylized graphics and terrifying high-speed gameplay look to make it more than worth the 240 MS Points ($3!) that it will cost when it releases August 25th on Xbox Live Arcade.
What do you think? Does this bring back fond memories of the arcade scene, or are some of you starting to suffer from flashbacks of Ikari Warriors?
