Crunchyroll Adds "Brave 10" Anime to Winter 2012 Lineup

Tuesdays at 11:00 AM Pacific, starting January 10th

First an Edo period novel by Sanada Sandaiki, then a manga by Kairi Shimotsuki, the Brave 10 ninja legend evolves into anime form this Winter, with Crunchyroll set to simulcast. The Warring States period action series kicks off January 10th at 11:00 AM Pacific and continues each Tuesday.

The official synopsis reads:

"Before the Warring States era came to a close, legend has it that Yukimura Sanada has been gathering ten warriors known as Sanada's Brave 10, who have the power to change history and take down the Tokugawa empire. As they gather one by one, the mysterious newcomer – Nami – starts to exhibit awesome displays of power to change the balance..."

Brave 10 will be available in the following territories: North America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

It might mean that AnimeOnDemand has taken the UK rights so Crunchyroll couldn't get it. AnimeOnDemand doesn't have any free streaming though so you have to pay for it plus they don't have anywhere near as much as Crunchyroll but cost the same. They're a bit of a rip-off really, plus it means anything they get we can't watch on Crunchyroll in the UK.

But you need to remember that before AoD launched Crunchy was announcing 11 titles in a season and only 3 being available in the UK. Yeah the selection isn't that great because it's just starting out and Crunchy is a long term player but at least you know you can watch everything on there. And IMO, I think it's a rip off I pay the same price as America and not get the same service.

Actually the majority of titles have always been available in the UK on Crunchyroll. We normally have access to 80-100% of simulcasts. It has never been as bad as only 3/11 being in the UK. In fact before AoD launched it actually got to the point where every season we had either all in the UK or all except for 1 or 2.

The worst season for UK Crunchyroll users was actually summer 2011 where we only got 5 of the 11 new series that season. But the thing is that 5 of the series which were blocked in the UK were only blocked because AoD took the UK rights. If they didn't then that would have been 10/11 that season.

The true rip-off is AoD. It is only 40p less per month than Crunchyroll, but you get only 1/4 the amount of content. Plus they plan on raising the price of AoD so it will soon be more expensive than Crunchyroll.

Also you may pay the same price as Americans for Crunchyroll and get less, but you still get far better value for money than you do with AoD.

Though I just noticed that CR's launch date is 3 days after the air date...A latecast, huh...Ah well, it'll still be fun.

Actually anime gets broadcast on several different stations in Japan some air sooner in the week and some air later depending on region. I guess CR got it from a station/company that airs it later on in the week.
