Lineup for EVO 2012 Fighting Game Tournament Confirmed

Several expected names and one very conspicuous absence in this year's tourney

If you're a fan of fighting games, it's likely you've heard of EVO. The Evolution Championship Series started as a small 1995 event called "Battle by the Bay," but eventually changed its name and became the premier fighting game championship tournament in 2002. This year marks EVO's 10th anniversary, and its card promises some intense competition.

The EVO 2012 game roster is:

Street Fighter X Tekken

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition ver. 2012

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

SoulCalibur V

The King of Fighters XIII

Mortal Kombat (2011)

No Arc System Works (Guilty Gear and BlazBlue), no Virtua Fighter, no Tekken, and no Melty Blood. Surprising, but this is still a very strong and competitive lineup of great, technical fighters... and Mortal Kombat. What do you think? Are there other fighters you think would be better-suited to the world stage of fighting game competition?
