Screens Offer Early Look at New ".hack" Game

Game to coincide with film, platform has yet to be announced

CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama—who will be running the Paris Marathon dressed up as Naruto—provided Japanese gaming mag Weekly Famitsu with a couple screens of the upcoming .hack game, and they've finally made their way to Famitsu.com.

 

According to Matsuyama, the screens below show real-time visuals running on actual hardware, though no specific platforms have been specified for the game's release. Planning for the game, including completion of the script, was done alongside that of the .hack//Sekai no Mukou Ni film, which hits Japanese theaters on January 21. 

 

 

The game will be set in 2025, one year after the events of the CG-animated film, but takes place in a different "The World" than the film's "The World Force: Era" setting. Expect more concrete info on the title after the film opens in Japan.

I got sucked into it when I came across the anime but then I found out about all the other stuff and decided to abandon it. I didn't want to end up wasting all my money on it.

the original is slow but it is worth watching the whole thing, trust me. The .hack anime are amazing, at least the three I've seen (sign, dusk, and roots)

Maybe they can try for another MMO now that technology has finally caught up with their dream. Then again, single player RPG is easier to market. MMO is s big gamble. Get 100K + players and you make millions easily...don't keep their attention and respect, and ya lose millions. Sometimes billions.
