As far as we know, this is the first reported arrest case for illegal anime/tokusatsu uploading in 2012, and probably not the last one. Consumer and Economic Division of Aichi Prefectural Police and Minami station announced that on January 11, 2012, they arrested a 26-year-old office worker from Toyohashi-city, Aichi, on suspicion of using Share file-sharing software to upload the 26th episode of the popular tokusatsu series Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger to the Internet without the permission from the copyright holder, Toei, on September 16, 2011, ACCS (The Association of Copyright for Computer Software) reported.
According to the report, the suspect admitted his guilt and said that he had been able to get the anime and other files for free since about four years ago, and wanted to share them with other people. The police found about 5,000 files (750GB) were ready to upload in his PC. He was also
arrested for suspicion of uploading obscene videos to the Internet.
