Despite its undead subject matter, the live-action drama of Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comic series just continues to pick up speed. The series makes its mid-season return to AMC on February 12. In addition to releasing a promo poster for the second half of season 2, the network had some big announcements for the length and creators of season 3.
Up from the six-episode first season and thirteen-episode second, season 3 will run 16 episodes. Like season 2, it will be split into two parts. Writers Nichole Beattie (Rubicon, John from Cincinnati) and Sang Kim (Crash, Hawthorne) are joining the staff.
While on the subject of Walking Dead, between seasons 1 and 2 there was a behind the scenes bloodbath that even took out series' show-runner Frank Darabont (The Mist). Recently, writer Sam Witwer discussed how season 2 would have launched had that not happened.
