Ken Watanabe (Inception, Batman Begins, The Last Samurai) has been tapped to be the voice of a documentary concerning the efforts to rebuild local industries following the March 2011 earthquake. The feature-length doumentary, co-produced by Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific, NHK and Singapore’s Bang Productions, will debut at the World Economic Forum in Davos Switzerland (Jan 25-29). A wider, international premiere is planned for the anniversary of the quake.
Watanabe and Departures screenwriter Kundo Koyama spearheaded Kizuna311, which relayed video messages from around the world in support of survivors.
His other recent documentary work has included appearences in Ken Watanabe’s America: Japanese Americans and Post-911 America, as well as narrating the Japanese dub of Earth.
