Soulja Boy Makes Appearance at "Fullmetal Alchemist: Sacred Star of Milos" Premiere
Rapper appears at LA screening
Eleven Arts, a distribution company manages limited screenings, brought Fullmetal Alchemist: Sacred Star of Milos to theaters across North America in a one weekend limited engagement. Mainstream critics have been greeting the movie with generally positive reviews; it's scored an 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. There was even a divisive, anime fan celebrity at the LA premiere. No, not Robin Williams, Soulja Boy.
The rapper is said to have sat in the back of the VIP section with a small group and left before the film was over. We have photographic evdience of his presence at the event below...

That song is god awful...
i know right , he could have at least taken some time to make it funny or somthing. instead i could barley understand anything he said except for "anime"
Him and Chris Brown are pretty big anime fans. I think Bow Wow is one as well, Their music is terrible though.

I don't think you understand. MOST rap are awful now. That doesn't mean hat that rap should die, especially since it'll take away the good ones. Rap is actually beautiful, but most today are just awful IMO (including this one). I don't want rap to die though.

Yup, I don't listen to much Rap or Hip Hop nowadays, but there is some good stuff if you looks past the radio BS. Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor is a great album, MF Doom is good too; that includes his work with Danger Mouse as Danger Doom, Mos Def has good stuff, as do Sage Francis talks about Philosophy, Politics, Social Issues, etc., Immortal Technique also deals with Social Issues. There's a lot of other good ones too. It's just that if you go looking to the radio for good music, you probably won't find it. I mean Billboard's Top 10 always ignores metal even when it does sell more than their manufactured pop sh*t.

I understand what you are saying, but the leading force in rap is the self absorbed BS I mentioned. They are the industry leaders and through that virtue define it in our zeitgeist for most of the world that is not cultured enough to listen outside of the top hits. I would love to see positive themed rap make it big, but at this point I just don't see it. Maybe because I teach is why I hate it so much because I see how rap's themes have such a negative impact on our youth. There is no tenderness, love, or vulnerability in it.
Rap goes far beyond what's on the radio and is actually not "Most rap". Most people don't take the time out to listen to rap with positive or political themes so the crappy ones stay on the air.

Youtube rappers are good. Like TimothyDeLaGhetto, LilCrazed, JReyez, D Pryde, Dumbfoundead. They have skills, their raps have flow and a lot of songs of their songs have depth. They respect their craft, unlike a certain so called celebrity. And Rap can be funny too, anyone ever heard of "Epic Rap battles of History"? Youtube it.
Their is nothing wrong with rap , yes they do degrade women and other subjects but that depends on the rapper, and even so some of those rappers dont mean what they say they mig ub or do say these things because thats what sales now if people were to listen to the rappers who have a meanig in their songs then you would see that rap is not as bad as pepple try to make it serm and notice that real rappers show a sign of poetry and life instead of a life stlye that is just seen in videos

Hey, his song mentioned Case Closed. that's pretty much all i understood besides "anime swag". I think I can forgive him for that horrible song just because he mentioned case closed though. detective conan is my 2nd fave of all time. that, and even though his Soulja Boy song is SUPER irritating, I have some good memories with friends because of it.

Glad to know that other people like him are fans of anime. Sad how most people on here are only commenting on his music. There are far better rappers out there then him(like Lupe Fiasco & Nas). So people...I think most of you are classifying Soulja Boy as a "rapper"....ummm....please stop. Rap/Hip-Hop has just a diverse a background as rock, pop, r&b, country, etc. All those genres have good artsits and bad...just like anime..or westerns, or fiction books, or tv shows. There is always great examples of an art form, and just as many bad. Stop judging a whole concept by one persons interpretation of an artform...cause in all honesty, I thought all anime was dragonball (all forms), speed racer, and voltron. I was wrong and ya'll who think otherwise...probably are too.

The song is crap so is the artist. But props to the fact that he loves "Annie May"! But it rubs me the wrong way when folks try to put down rap ( Hip-Hop ) as a genre. It is a main stream genre that gets alot of exposure which then gives alot of crap artists it too. All genres have their share of violence, drugs/alchool use and etc (Country, Rock/Metal anyone?). But ppl tend to forget that....Oh I forgot no itz not because it has strong ties to Urban Pop culture! Silly of me to forget that... =P

I was so relieved to know that I wasn't the only one that thought this song was God awful. Seriously. I mean, I think it's fantastic that he likes anime... but this is DEFINITELY not the way to support it. He should just spend all the money he makes off the idiots who buy his music on anime and leave it at that. Yikes.
