"Resident Evil 6" to Include 6-Player Co-op, 8-Player Competitive

Next chapter of RE horror has been in development for two years

Shacknews reported some interesting info about Resident Evil 6 today, culled from game features listed on Xbox.com. If you like multiplayer in your Evil, you're in luck. In addition to the campaign, RE6 will include both a six-player cooperative mode and a competitive mode that supports up to eight players.

Two-player offline co-op is also listed, which sounds pretty much like the couch co-op we got with Resident Evil 5. As for the competitive multiplayer, it's not yet clear whether it will be a "Versus" deathmatch like the mode offered as DLC after 5's release, or something different.

Another little tidbit released sheds light on the development cycle. Resident Evil 6 had been in the works for two years already prior to the official announcement, and it promises the return of "survival horror elements… mixed in with classic Resident Evil moments."

I'm sure Capcom will be trickling out more info in the coming months, but what do you think about more multiplayer in Resident Evil 6? I thought the co-op in 5 was great, but playing alone left something to be desired as a result. We'll  all have to wait until November 20, 2012 to play the full game on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with the PC version arriving later.
